Ohne dass sich wirklich etwas bewegt, wandert die positive Ladung über die Moleküle. Es verändern sich nur die Brückenbindungen (dünne schwarze Linien). Das linke Hydronium-Ion lässt sozusagen ein Proton los, das mittlere Wassermolekül fängt es auf und wird selbst zu Hydronium, lässt wieder los, und das rechte Wassermolekül greift zu.
