Gehirn einer Taufliegenlarve: Die zwei grünen Kugeln oben sind die beiden Gehirnhälften, ihre zapfenförmige Verlängerung nach unten stellt das Bauchmark dar. Letzteres entspricht von der Funktion her in etwa dem Rückenmark. Die trichterförmigen lila Gebilde (oben) sind die noch nicht fertig entwickelten Augen der späteren Fliege. Für die Aufnahme wurde das Protein Synapsin grün angefärbt, das Protein F-Actin lila.
