Das FT-Protein wurde mit einem grün fluoreszierenden Protein (GFP) markiert und im Gefäßsystem eines jungen Arabidopsis-Keimlings unter dem Mikroskop beobachtet. So konnte experimentell nachgewiesen werden, dass das FT-Protein aus den Blättern bis in die Sprossspitzen der Ackerschmalwand wandert.
