Extremform der Bodendegradation im Nordwesten von Burkina Faso: Der Trockenwald, der vor 50 Jahren noch hier stand, wurde abgeholzt, das Gebiet anschließend überweidet. Im Biota-Projekt werden Methoden entwickelt, um auch solche Böden wieder landwirtschaftlich nutzbar zu machen - bis hin zur vollen Wiederaufforstung mit einheimischen Gehölzen.
