Das Kleine Blasenmützenmoos (Physcomitrella patens). Moose gehören zu den ersten Pflanzen, die vor ca. 450 Millionen Jahren das Festland eroberten. Um zu überleben, mussten sie sich an extreme Temperaturschwankungen, Trockenheit und hohe UV-Strahlung anpassen, die es im Wasser in dieser Form nicht gab. Wenn Wissenschaftler diese Schutzmechanismen des Mooses besser verstehen lernen,, können sie diese eventuell auch auf Nutzpflanzen übertragen und sie so widerstandsfähiger machen.
