Durch die neuen Forschungsergebnisse ist inzwischen auch klar, weshalb Vogelfreunde in Mitteleuropa stets nur Langstreckerzieher aus dem Fernen Osten Asiens als Irrgäste beobachten konnten. Für Kurzstreckenzieher aus Asien ist die genetisch programmierte Reise bereits irgendwo im westlichen Nordasien zu Ende.
