Der Südafrikaner Graeme Jacobs (rechts) macht derzeit seine Doktorarbeit am Würzburger Lehrstuhl für Virologie. Dessen Inhaber Professor Axel Rethwilm (Mitte) pflegt schon seit Längerem Kontakte nach Südafrika. Aus diesen wissenschaftlichen Kooperationen ist das erste deutsch-afrikanische Graduiertenkolleg entstanden, das im Oktober an den Start geht.
