Aktivitätswellen im visuellen Kortex: Die Abbildung zeigt, wie sich im Nervennetzwerk des Gehirns über weitreichende Verbindungen Aktivität ausbreitet. Farbkodiert überlagert ist die Geschwindigkeit der Aktivitätswelle (grün = schnell, rot = langsamer). Die Studie beweist, dass durch eine Netzhautschädigung nicht direkt aktivierbare Gehirnbereiche (graue Regionen) wieder funktionellen Anschluss an ihre Nachbarzellen erhalten.
