Dr. Andreas Schmidt ist gelernter Diplom-Chemiker und war nach Studium und Promotion an den Universitäten Düsseldorf und Duisburg sowie dem Deutschen Textilforschungszentrum Nord-West e.V. seit 2002 in verschiedenen leitenden Funktionen bei der Firma Henkel AG & Co. KGaA tätig - bis 2008 als Laborleiter im Bereich Textile Fibres und seither als Verantwortlicher für die Produktentwicklung im Bereich Metallvorbehandlung und Leichtmetalle (Automotive). Als Direktor der neuen Abteilung "Function and Care" führt er ab 1. Oktober 2009 den mit rund 50 Mitarbeitern zweitgrößten Arbeitsbereich an den Hohenstein Instituten.
