Magnetfelder in der Spiralgalaxie M51, darge¬stellt als Striche, aus Radiomessungen bei 6 cm Wellen¬länge mit dem 100-m-Teleskop Effelsberg und dem Very Large Array (USA). Die "Höhenlinien" geben die Stärke der Radiostrahlung an. Das optische Bild stammt vom Hubble Space Telescope.
