Wasserproben aus der sibirischen Laptev-See. Anhand solcher, während der Sommermonate genommener Wasserproben können die Forscher die Eisbildung im Winter rekonstruieren. Im Jahr 2007 stießen sie dabei auf Verteilungsmuster, die bisherigen Vorstellungen widersprechen.
