Heute weiß man, dass sie die Ursache für schwere Erkrankungen bis hin zur Herzklappenentzündung sein können. Forscher der GBF wollen Keime wie Streptococcus anginosus (im Bild) und seine Verwandten jetzt genauer untersuchen.
