Dr. Jens Otto und Dr. Nils Krämer (von links) diskutieren über ein mit Eisenpartikeln beladenes Herniennetz, das helfen soll, die Anzahl chirurgischer Eingriffe zu reduzieren: Das mit Eisen-Oxiden versehene Herniennetz gibt in der Magnetresonanztomographie erstmals klare Informationen über Zustand und Lage des Netzes und erlaubt so die klare Aussage darüber, ob eine Folge-OP erforderlich ist – dies konnte bislang nur bei dem Eingriff selbst festgestellt werden. Das BMBF-Projekt am Universitätsklinikum hilft somit, die Anzahl der Folgeoperationen deutlich zu vermindern.
