Innerhalb des weißen Kästchens binden sich die immunomagnetischen Mikrokugeln an die Bakterien, werden mittels eines Magneten in den Fokus eines Laserstrahls gezogen, mit dem Laser (rechts) sichtbar gemacht und mit einem Photo-Detektor erfasst. Auf dem Foto fehlt der Schlauch, durch den die Gehirnflüssigkeit fließt.
