Die meisten Neurone in der Projektionszone des Netzhautschadens können infolge neu gebildeter Verbindungen zu Nachbarzellen wieder ihr ursprüngliches Aktivitätslevel erreichen. Die Farben im unteren Bildteil zeigen die Positionen in der Netzhaut an, von denen der Input stammt, auf den die Nervenzellen am stärksten reagieren.
