Kreidezeitlichen Klima-Zyklen auf der Spur: Die sich abwechselnden Schichten aus Kalk und Mergel (oben) in Nordspanien sind 94 Millionen Jahre alt. Zu ihrer Analyse wurde unter anderem die natürliche Gamma-Strahlung im Gelände gemessen (links). Für geochemische Analysen entnahmen die Würzburger Forscher Proben (rechts).
