Zelluläre Parallelen zwischen einem Tumor und einer Hautwunde. Die Abbildung zeigt einen epithelialen Hautkrebs und eine Hautwunde in der Phase der Bildung von neuem Gewebe. Sowohl in der Wunde als auch im Tumor findet man ein Fibringerinnsel, Entzündungszellen (neutrophile Granulozyten, Makrophagen, Mastzellen, Lymphozyten), neugebildete Blutgefässe, und eine grosse Anzahl an Fibroblasten/Myofibroblasten. Diese Zellen sind Bestandteile des sogenannten Wund-Granulationsgewebes, das starke Ähnlichkeiten mit dem Tumorstroma aufweist. Zusätzlich findet man wandernde und proliferierende Keratinozyten in der Wunde und im Tumor. Der Hauptunterschied zwischen Wunden und Tumoren ist das invasive Wachstum der maligne transformierten Epithelzellen. Aus: Schäfer, M., and Werner, S. (2008).
