Während ihres Besuchs am BMBF-Stand auf der Hannover-Messe entzündete Bundesministerin für Bildung und Forschung Prof. Annette Schavan Methanhydrat. Die verwendeten Gashydrate wurden beim Fraunhofer-Institut für Umwelt-, Sicherheits- und Energietechnik UMSICHT im Rahmen des SUGAR-Projekts synthetisiert. Umrahmt wird die Ministerin von Dr. Jörg Bialas und Dr. Warner Brückmann vom IFM-Geomar sowie von Dr. Görge Deerberg, dem stellvertretenden Institutsleiter von Fraunhofer UMSICHT (siehe Foto; von links nach rechts).
