Jährlich vergibt das europäische Robotik-Forschungsnetzwerk den Technologie-Transfer-Preis für gelungene Kooperationen zwischen Forschung und Industrie. Ausgezeichnet wurden dieses Jahr die Universität Freiburg, Abteilung für Grundlagen der Künstlichen Intelligenz, und die Firma Adp Gauselmann AG für die gemeinsame Entwicklung des Tischfußballroboters Star-Kick.
Die Entwicklung an dem Roboter startete im Rahmen einer Promotion an derUniversität und führte zu einem Prototypen und einer Patentanmeldung. Darauf basierend entwickelte die Firma Gauselmann marktfähige Hardware und die Universität entwickelte die Software weiter. Mittlerweile ist das Gerät auf dem Markt. Der Tischkicker spielt auf dem Niveau eines fortgeschrittenen menschlichen Spielers. Die Kooperation wird weiter fortgesetzt und an der Universität wird daran gearbeitet, das Spielniveau auf Weltmeisterniveau zu heben.
