The new head of the Materials and Process Technology Department at the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) is Dipl.-Ing. Oliver Meier. Meier completed his studies in the field of engineering at the University of Hannover, with an emphasis placed on materials and process technology. He has been at the LZH since 1997, at first as a student assistant. Since September, 2001, he has been employed as a scientist, with an emphasis in the field of laser welding of high-strength steels. Meier was an assistant to the board of directors before he was placed in charge of the group "Laser Joining" in 2004. His predecessor as head of the Materials and Process Technology Department, Dr.-Ing. Jens Bunte, is now with Audi AG in Neckarsulm.
