Jena. (27.04.99) Zum Vorsitzenden für den Bereich Gesamteuropa des IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Engineering of Computer-Based Systems ist der Jenaer Informatiker Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Rossak (40) gewählt worden. Das Institute of Electrical and Electronical Engineering (IEEE) ist die weltweit größte Organisation für Elektronik, Fernmeldetechnik und Computerwissenschaft.
Allein der Sektion, für die Rossak jetzt gewählt wurde, gehören weltweit rund 1.800 Mitglieder an. "Ich erhoffe mir aus meiner Arbeit als TC-Vorsitzender weitere Impulse für die Friedrich-Schiller-Universität und eine zunehmende Internationalisierung in unseren Beziehungen", kommentierte er seine Wahl in das neue Amt. Dort wird er sich u. a. mit weltweiten Fragen der Normung und mit dem Know-how-Transfer zwischen Wissenschaft und Industrie befassen. Prof. Rossak lehrt seit 1997 Softwaretechnik im Institut für Informatik der Jenaer Universität inne.
