Wissenschaftlern des Max-Planck-Instituts für experimentelle Endokrinologie in Hannover ist es gelungen, eine Mausmutante für den Transkriptionsfaktor Ear2 zu generieren, die lebensfähig ist. Die Mutante ermöglicht die Funktion dieses Genes im Entwicklungsprozess des Maushirns aufzuzeigen. Damit haben die Forscher für Ear2 sowohl dessen Funktion während der Entwicklung als auch die sich daraus ableitende Rolle im erwachsenen Maushirn herausgefunden.
