Am 13. und 14. Mai 2005 findet im Gästehaus der Universität Bremen die internationale Tagung "Interdependencies between Eastern and Western Economic and Political Elites in the process of EU Enlargement" statt. Die Konferenz befasst sich mit der Rolle und Verantwortung von politischen und ökonomischen Eliten in Ost- und Westeuropa zum Aufbau eines demokratischen und sozialen Europas. Die Bremer Tagung ist die zweite von insgesamt sechs internationalen Tagungen in sechs verschiedenen europäischen Ländern. Die erste fand im September 2004 in Budapest statt, die nächste folgt im Frühjahr 2006 in Prag. In Bremen organisiert das Institut Arbeit und Wirtschaft (iaw) die Veranstaltung.
