Mit Genehmigung der Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektion Süd konnte im Wissenschaftspark ein neues Gentechnik-Labor (Sicherheitsstufe 1) für die Fachrichtungen Biogeographie und Ökotoxikologie eingeweiht werden. Das Labor wird zur Untersuchung von DNA-Sequenzen benötigt, die mit Bakterien (E. coli K 12) kloniert werden können, um den Einfluss von Umweltsubstanzen auf die Expression von Genen untersuchen zu können. Prof. Dr. Brunhilde Blömeke (Ökotoxikologie) und Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Paul Müller (Biogeographie) leiten die Analysen.
