Das Rheinisch-Westfälische Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI Essen) trauert um Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Paul Klemmer. Der ehemalige Präsident des Instituts verstarb am 26. Juli 2005 im Alter von 69 Jahren. Klemmer leitete das Institut von 1989 bis 2002. Bereits seit 1970 war er Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Volkswirtschaftspolitik III an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Sein besonderes Forschungsinteresse galt der Regional-, Struktur- und Umweltpolitik, wo er hohe Anerkennung in der Wissenschaft und der wirtschaftspolitischen Beratung fand. Über seine Amtszeit hinaus blieb er dem RWI Essen als Ehrenmitglied eng verbunden.
