Abschlusstagung der ZiF: Forschungsgruppe "Stochastic Modeling in the Sciences: Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and Random Media"
Vom 12. bis 15. September findet im Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Forschung (ZiF) der Universität Bielefeld unter Leitung der Bielefelder Mathematiker Friedrich Götze, Yuri Kondratiev und Michael Röckner eine Tagung mit dem Titel "Stochastic Partial Differential Equation and Random Media: From Theory to Applications II" statt. Es handelt sich um die Abschlusskonferenz der ZiF: Forschungsgruppe "Stochastic Modeling in the Sciences: Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and Random Media".
Seit dem 1. April 2005 arbeitet diese Forschungsgruppe. Schwerpunkte der Forschung sind Theorie und Anwendungen aus zwei Teilgebieten der Stochastik:
stochastische partielle Differentialgleichungen und
zufällige Medien
Anwendungsgebiete, die sich für die Forschungsgruppe als wichtig herausgestellt haben, stammen aus der Biologie, Chemie, Physik, insbesondere Hydrodynamik und Klimatologie, aber auch aus der Medizin, den Wirtschaftswissenschaften und nicht zuletzt dem Ingenieurwesen. Diese Forschungs- und Praxisfelder stellen auch die Themen der Abschlusskonferenz. Die Tagungssprache ist Englisch.
