Rudolf Ahlswede erhält Claude E. Shannon Award
Der Mathematiker Rudolf Ahlswede, emeritierter Professor an der Fakultät für Mathematik der Universität Bielefeld, erhält den renommierten, mit 10 000 Dollar dotierten Claude E. Shannon Award 2006 der IEEE Information Theory Society. Der Preis ist nach einem der großen Pioniere der modernen Informationswissenschaft benannt, wird seit 1974 für herausragende Leistungen auf dem Gebiet der Informationstheorie verliehen und ging seitdem erst fünf Mal an nicht aus den USA stammende Wissenschaftler.
