Vallendar, 28. September 2005. Prof. Dr. Peter-J. Jost legt mit Wirkung zum 30. September 2005 das Amt des Rektors der WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management nieder, um sich in Zukunft wieder verstärkt der Forschung zu widmen. Der Vorstand der Trägerstiftung hat Prof. Dr. Michael Frenkel (51) auf Vorschlag des Senats zum neuen Rektor der WHU ernannt. Der neue Rektor wird zusammen mit dem bisherigen Prorektor, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Weber (51), ab dem 1. Oktober die Leitung der WHU übernehmen. "Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass das neue Führungsduo aufgrund der langjährigen Erfahrung und der intimen Kenntnis der WHU die Hochschule erfolgreich weiter führen wird", betonte der Vorstandsvorsitzende der Stiftung WHU, Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Erich Greipl.
Prof. Frenkel ist seit 1993 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Makroökonomik und Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen. Von 1996 bis 1998 stand er schon einmal als Rektor an der Spitze der WHU. Prof. Weber ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Controlling und Telekommunikation der WHU. Er ist bereits seit 1986 an der WHU und damit der dienstälteste Professor der Hochschule. Auch er war von 1990 bis 1992 bereits Rektor der WHU.
