DECODON Signs Distribution Agreement with Fujifilm

Dr. Heinrich Cuypers Unternehmenskommunikation
BioCon Valley Initiative

Bioinformatics company to extend presence in Japan

DECODON GmbH (Greifswald, Germany) will cooperate with the Japanese technology multinational Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd. (Fujifilm). Under the agreement, DECODON's software for the analysis of protein patterns on two-dimensional electrophoresis gels, Delta2D, will be distributed in Japan by Fujifilm.

As part of its strategy to expand Life Sciences into a core business, the technology multinational Fujifilm completes its offerings to Proteomics customers. Prior to the agreement, Fujifilm carried out an evaluation of the software products available world-wide. "Delta2D will now be available also in Japan in combination with the high-quality renowned instruments by Fujifilm, providing an end-to-end solution", says Markus Kolbe, CEO of DECODON. Kolbe continues: "Fujifilm's adding Delta2D to its product portfolio is an important step for DECODON in establishing itself as a global technology leader in software tools for functional genomics."
The software Delta2D enables the reliable analysis of protein patterns on two-dimensional electrophoesis gel images. It is used by scientists from industry and basic research working in functional genomics. These analyses are used, for example, in drug discovery and diagnostics. Delta2D supports multifluorescence as well as conventional gel electrophoresis experiments. The image processing technology incorporated in Delta2D enables analyses in a fraction of the time needed by other products while enabling superior reproducibility.

    About DECODON:

DECODON GmbH is a young bioinformatics company that develops software for the modern Life Sciences. Its bioinformatics tools help scientists to generate knowledge from the massive amounts of data that are accumulated by recent methods in global functional genomics. The company brings together specialists with diverse backgrounds from Molecular Biology, Computer Science and Mathematics. Software development at DECODON is driven by the needs of leading researchers in the field of functional genomics and realized by using advanced methods from various areas of Mathematics and Informatics. DECODON's products, Delta2D, a program for fast analysis of 2D electrophoresis images, and Protecs, an information system for functional genomics studies, prove the efficiency of this approach.
