Leopoldina Symposium 2006 in Bremen

Dr. Manfred Schloesser Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
Max-Planck-Institut für marine Mikrobiologie

The Leopoldina Symposium will be held from 5-8 April 2006 in Bremen.

Prokaryotes (bacteria, archaea) have shaped the chemistry of the biosphere and of our planet over some billions of years and obviously formed the basis for the development of higher life. Higher organisms adopted their metabolic key capacities such as photosynthesis, respiration, or CO2 fixation from prokaryotes. Also the multiple, often "ingenious" mechanisms in symbioses as well as in pathogenic infections bear witness of a long, intimate interaction between these groups during evolution, usually referred to as co-evolution. The present symposium seeks to cover important developments in the study and understanding of the fascinating life strategies of free-living as well as of host-associated microorganisms and to bridge these areas from an environmental and evolutionary perspective.

    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
