Nach knapp fünfjähriger Tätigkeit als Direktor des Weltklima-Forschungsprogramms bei der Weltorganisation für Meteorologie in Genf ist Prof. Dr. Hartmut Graßl am 1. Oktober 1999 an das Meteorologische Institut der Universität Hamburg zurückgekehrt. Neben Prof. Dr. Lennart Bengtsson und Prof. Dr. Guy Brasseur, der zum 1. Oktober 1999 vom National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder/Colorado/USA nach Hamburg wechselte, ist Graßl gleichzeitig einer der drei Direktoren des Max-Planck-Instituts für Meteorologie in Hamburg.
Während des am 4. Oktober in der Universität Hamburg beginnenden 52. Deutschen Geographentages referiert der renommierte Wissenschaftler von 17.30 bis 18.30 Uhr im Audimax, Von-Melle-Park 4, über "Globaler Wandel - Folgen für Küsten und Meere".
