In Zusammenarbeit mit der "International Water Association" (IWA), London, führen das CUTEC-Institut und die Technischen Universitäten Clausthal und Berlin die 4. Internationale Konferenz "Oxidation Technologies for Water and Wastewater Treatment" durch. Sie wird vom 15. bis 17. Mai 2006 in Goslar stattfinden und von einer Ausstellung technischer Anwendungen und ca. 120 Posterpräsentationen begleitet. International anerkannte Experten stellen in 35 Vorträgen ihre neuesten Forschungsergebnisse vor.
Oxidationsverfahren sind spezielle Techniken zur Behandlung verunreinigter Wässer und Abwässer. Mit Hilfe von Oxidationsmitteln wie Sauerstoff, Ozon oder Wasserstoffperoxid werden schwer abbaubare Stoffe im Abwasser zu Kohlendioxid, Wasser und Mineralsalzen umgewandelt. UV-Strahlung sowie Katalysatoren unterstützen diesen Prozess. Bei der diesjährigen Konferenz ist den schwer abbaubaren Substanzen und anthropogenen Schadstoffen ein besonderer Schwerpunkt gewidmet.
1993 als Fachveranstaltung für deutsche Experten der oxidativen Wasser- und Abwasserbehandlung ins Leben gerufen, entwickelte sich die Tagung schnell zu einem wichtigen internationalen Erfahrungsaustausch im Bereich F&E innovativer Abwassertechnologien. Zielgruppen sind Vertreter aus Industrie, Hochschulen, Ingenieurbüros und Fachbehörden. Der Termin wurde bewusst in Verbindung mit der weltbekannten Fachmesse ACHEMA (15. bis 19. Mai in Frankfurt) gelegt, um Teilnehmern Synergieeffekte ermöglichen zu können.
