Greifswald. Etwa 160 Teilnehmer aus 24 Ländern werden morgen zum 3. Mikroplasma-Workshop im Alfried-Krupp-Kolleg in Greifswald erwartet. Das INP Greifswald (Institut für Niedertemperatur-Plasmaphysik e.V.) und das Institut für Physik der Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald konnten diese hochkarätige Veranstaltung erstmals nach Europa holen, nach Japan (2002) und den USA (2004).
Als Mikroplasmen gelten Plasmen im Mikro- bis Millimeterbereich. Derart winzige Entladungen sind ein relativ neues Forschungsgebiet mit einem viel versprechenden Anwendungspotenzial, zum Beispiel in der Oberflächentechnologie, Umwelttechnik, Biomedizintechnik, Medizin und Pharmazie. Der Mikroplasma-Workshop wird morgen vormittag eröffnet. Bis Donnerstag geht es in Fachvorträgen einerseits um die Diskussion wissenschaftlicher Fragestellungen, andererseits können sich die eingeladenen Industrieverstreter über neueste Entwicklungen informieren. Unterstützt wird der Mikroplasma-Workshop vom European Office of Aerospace Research and Development.
