Internationale Kooperation von Proteomforschern erfasst erstmals den gesamten aktiven Proteinbestand in Zellen
Seit ungefähr vier Jahren ist das menschliche Genom entschlüsselt - jetzt konzentrieren sich die Wissenschaftler auf die Funktion der einzelnen Gene und damit auf ihre Produkte, die Proteine. Ein bedeutender Schritt zum Verständnis der Proteine ist jetzt Wissenschaftlern aus dem Max-Planck-Institut für Biochemie gelungen: In Zusammenarbeit mit Forschern aus Dänemark, Kanada, China und USA zeigen die Max-Planck Forscher in einer aktuellen Veröffentlichung der Zeitschrift Cell (Cell 125, 1-13), wie man mit modernsten Methoden den gesamten Bestand an aktiven Proteinen in den Zellorganellen zu einem bestimmten Moment erfassen kann. Sie liefern dadurch wesentliche neue Erkenntnisse zum Einsatz von Proteinen in der Zelle.
