Direktor am Max-Planck-Institut für Biochemie erhält hoch dotierten europäischen Wissenschaftspreis
Für seine ambitionierte Forschungsarbeit zur zellulären Proteinfaltung wird Prof. Ulrich Hartl, Direktor am Max-Planck-Institut für Biochemie in Martinsried, mit dem "Körber-Preis für die Europäische Wissenschaft 2006" geehrt. Mit dem Preisgeld in Höhe von 750.000 Euro fördert die Körber-Stiftung auch Hartls Forschungsprojekt "Chaperone der Proteinfaltung in Biotechnologie und Medizin". Chaperone helfen Proteinen bei der korrekten Faltung in ihre dreidimensionale Struktur - die entscheidende Voraussetzung dafür, dass sie ihre Funktionen erfüllen. Hartl wird der Preis bei einem Festakt am 7. September 2006 im Hamburger Rathaus verliehen.
