Astronomen der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft an weltweitem Konsortium zur Kartierung des Universums beteiligt
Forscher der Max-Planck-Institute für Astronomie in Heidelberg und für extraterrestrische Physik in Garching haben mit Kollegen aus den USA und Großbritannien ein Konsortium zur Nutzung eines hocheffizienten neuen Teleskops auf dem Berg Haleakala auf der Insel Maui (Hawaii) gebildet. Dieses Teleskop wird große Teile des Firmaments wiederholt in mehreren Farben und mit hoher Empfindlichkeit kartieren - dabei wird der erste digitale "Film" entstehen, der zeitliche Veränderungen am Himmel festhält.
