Ab Wintersemester 2000 bietet die Fachhochschule Deggendorf als neuen Studiengang Medientechnik an. Das Studium beinhaltet: Medienlehre und -gestaltung, Medientechnik, Betriebswirtschaftslehre der Medien und Medienproduktion.
Wie der bayerische Staatsminister für Wissenschaft und Forschung Zehetmair in einer Presseerklärung verlauten ließ, verfolgt das geplante Studienkonzept ein deutliches Qualitätsprofil und eine praxisorientierte Ausbildung von Fachkräften, die den derzeitigen Bedarf der Medienbranche hinsichtlich Gestalten und Bearbeiten digitaler Informationssysteme bedienen kann.
