To increase the mobility of students and researchers the ScanBalt German Campus Office will be opened on Monday, 23rd April 2007 in Biomedical Research Center Rostock, Schillingallee 68. The office is the first ScanBalt Campus national contact point in Germany. The representation office in Rostock is pillared by University Rostock, whereas the bioregions accompany the the ScanBalt German Campus Office. In the case of Mecklenburg Western Pomerania the bioregion is represented by BioCon Valley.

Prof. Gustav Steinhoff, ScanBalt speaker at University of Rostock and head of ScanBalt German Campus Office says: "ScanBalt German Campus Office acts as node and builds up cooperations of students and researchers in the Baltic Sea Region. It enhances education, research and development in international networks and gives universities in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania special attractiveness through integration with international partners." Guest speakers at the venue are Prof. Dr. Thomas Strothotte, rector of the University of Rostock, Reinhard Meyer, Secretary of State Chancellory Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, Udo Michallik, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Science Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, Prof. Bo Samuelsson, Chairman ScanBalt, Prof. Gustav Steinhoff, ScanBalt Campus Knowledge Network Regenerative Medicine and Dr. Gudrun Tiedemann, ScanBalt German Campus Office. To the opening ceremony numerous guests are expected, among them a multitude of scientists and students from medicine and natural sciences. On the spot student representatives will also discuss interdisciplinary and international exchange.
