The 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates will be taking place from July 1st-6th, 2007 in Lindau and is devoted to holders of the Nobel Prize of Physiology or Medicine. 18 Laureates have confirmed that they will be attending.The Nobel Laureates will be joined by over 560 international young scientists from 62 countries. `Best talents' from Jordan, North Korea and Syria will be attending for the very first time. In addition to the 14 specialised lectures to be given by the Nobel Laureates, a Scientific Bazaar and the discussion roundtables for the Laureates and young scientists, three top-class panel discussions underline the high quality of the scientific programme at the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates.
The 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates will be taking place from July 1st-6th, 2007 in Lindau and is devoted to holders of the Nobel Prize of Physiology or Medicine. 18 Laureates have confirmed that they will be attending, including the Nobel Laureate in Medicine for 2006, Professor Craig C. Mello (USA). To take into account the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of the sciences, the Council will also be welcoming several Nobel Laureates in Chemistry to this globally unique dialogue in Lindau, among them the Laureates for 2004, Professor Aaron Ciechanover and Avram Hershko (both from Israel). The Nobel Laureates will be joined by over 560 international young scientists from 62 countries. These belong to their country's future leading lights of science, and have taken part in a multi-stage selection process in order to be able to attend the Meeting. In China alone, 30 participants were chosen from a total of over 20,000 applicants. 'Best talents' from Jordan, North Korea and Syria will be attending for the very first time.
During the course of the numerous personal encounters between the Nobel Laureates and the young scientists of tomorrow, networks of scientific excellence are developed that will have an impact far into the future. The Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings provide a platform for dialogue between the scientific elites of today and tomorrow. The imparting of knowledge, motivation and inspiration characterise this globally unique conference.
With the inaugural "Scientific Bazaar", the Council will be instituting a new forum for these focal issues in the scientific programme. The venue of the Nobel Laureate meetings, the Inselhalle congress centre, will be transformed for an entire afternoon into a lively and diversified bazaar. 18 Nobel Laureates will be answering questions from the international scientific elite of tomorrow, discussing current research issues, and giving valuable tips for a career in the sciences. During the Scientific Bazaar, the young scientists will be able to switch between the different discussion groups, enabling them to gain diverse impressions and insights.

The scientific leaders of the 57th Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau are Hans Jörnvall (Professor of Physiological Chemistry at the Karolinska Insitute in Stockholm) and Helmut Sies (Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Heinrich Heine University, Dusseldorf). They are members of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
The annual Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Lindau are organised by the Council for the Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Lindau under the presidency of Countess Sonja Bernadotte. The Foundation Lindau Nobelprizewinners Meetings at Lake Constance, whose Founders´Assembly includes 169 Nobel Laureates, supports the Meetings. The natural-scientific Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine and in Physics have been held since 1951. Since 2004, the holders of the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, have also held biannual meetings on Lake Constance.
