Neuroendocrine Stress Response - 4th Bradford Club meeting in Greifswald, Germany

Dr. Heinrich Cuypers General Secretary
ScanBalt

The world's leading experts in skin neuroendocrinology will meet at the University of Greifswald to take part in an International Symposium at the Biotechnikum from August 23 to 26, 2007, under the auspices of the Institute for Pigmentary Disorders in Association with the University of Greifswald, Germany, and the University of Bradford, UK.

Cutaneous biology is the study of cellular and molecular biology of human skin and it's associated diseases. Speakers will cover basic subjects relating to the cutaneous neuroendocrine and endocrine functions in health and disease, especially the response to stress, including skin pigmentation, photobiology, oxidation and antioxidant mechanisms, immunoregulatory functions of the skin, non-invasive skin imaging, and structural computer modelling. Due to its size, the Bradford Club provides a unique environment for free exchange of ideas and opens multiple new research collaborations.

Speakers from Sacramento, Memphis and Rochester in the USA, Lübeck, Münster and Greifswald in Germany as well as from across the UK, take part in the event, which is organised by Professor Karin Schallreuter and Dr Hartmut Rokos.

Professor Schallreuter is a leader in her field, and Head of the Institute for Pigmentary Disorders, which provides medical treatment for vitiligo patients from all over the world. It is the only one of its kind in the UK and Germany.

Topics of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bradford Club were "Oxidative Stress", "Pteridines and Cell Signalling" and "The Non-Neuronal Axis of the Skin", respectively.
