One special highlight of the 3rd World Congress of Regenerative Medicine takes place on October, 20. The Translational Centre for Regenerative Medicine (TRM) will hold a session with the title "Space Medicine meets Regenerative Medicine".
The TRM has a fundamental interest in encouraging interdisciplinary research and this session serves to bridge the two growing medical research fields of medicine and space research. Important health professionals, biotechnologists and engineers from across Germany and Europe will discuss bioreactor technology, cell functions and tissue engineering under micro gravitation conditions, as well as explore radiobiology and life support systems. Following the lectures a panel discussion will take place in which the potential and diverse benefits of both specific fields shall be discussed, so that the discoveries in space medicine and the experiences of the clinicians who treat astronauts can someday be useful for practical health care for the patients here on earth.
