Vallendar, 1. Oktober 2007. Der Vorstand der Trägerstiftung hat Prof. Dr. Michael Frenkel (53) auf Vorschlag des Senats für weitere zwei Jahre als Rektor der WHU bestätigt. Frenkel ist seit 2005 Rektor der WHU. Zum neuen Prorektor wurde Prof. Dr. Martin Fassnacht (42) ernannt. Er folgt Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Jürgen Weber (53), der das Prorektorat zum 1. Oktober nach acht Jahren abgibt.
Fassnacht ist seit 2003 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Marketing, Otto Beisheim- Stiftungslehrstuhl, der WHU. Zugleich ist er Direktor des Zentrums für Marktorientierte Unternehmensführung und Direktor Marketing und Kommunikation der WHU. Als Akademischer Direktor ist er für das im Herbst 2008 startende Master of Science-Programm der WHU verantwortlich.
Nach dem Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre in Mannheim wurde Fassnacht 1996 an der Universität Mainz promoviert und hat sich 2002 an der Universität Mannheim habilitiert. Von Juni 2001 bis Mai 2003 war er Vertreter des Lehrstuhls für Marketing an der Universität Paderborn. Fassnacht ist Autor zahlreicher Publikationen in referierten, internationalen und nationalen Zeitschriften. Seine Forschungsgebiete sind: Preismanagement, Dienstleistungs- und Handelsmarketing sowie Marktorientierte Unternehmensführung.
