Der Referent der diesjährigen Otto-Karrer-Vorlesung, Dr. Daniel Vasella, Chairman und CEO der Norvartis AG, Basel, spricht zum Thema
Verantwortung in Politik und Wirtschaft
Die grossen Konzerne agieren weltweit und kommen daher in Kontakt mit anderen Kulturen und Religionen. Im Geflecht von Gesellschaft, Politik, Wirtschaft und Ethik ist auch Religion im öffentlichen Raum präsent und wirksam. Daniel Vasella baut kontinuierlich Brücken zwischen der forschenden Industrie und der universitären Welt. Mit der Einrichtung eines Ethik-Rates, um sich kritisch mit der Forschung und ihren Folgen auseinanderzusetzen, und der Einrichtung der "Stiftung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung" beweist er als Unternehmer grosses gesellschaftliches Engagement.
