Berlin / Alameda, USA - March 2008 - For the third year in a row the Division of Chemical Information (CINF) of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the German chemistry information agency FIZ CHEMIE Berlin invite junior scientists to apply for the "CINF-FIZ Scholarship for Scientific Excellence". The German-American prize is designed to reward graduate and postdoctoral students in chemical information and related sciences for scientific excellence and to foster their involvement in CINF. Applicants have to be enrolled at a certified college or university. Three scholarships valued at $1,000 each will be given out. Closing date for initial application is March 24, 2008.
Accepted posters will be presented during a poster session at the 236th ACS National Meeting in Philadelphia, August 17 -21, 2008.
Abstracts for the posters have to be submitted electronically through the ACS Online Abstract Submittal System OASYS http://oasys.acs.org/acs/236nm/cinf/papers/index.cgi (CINF-FIZ Scholarship session). Concomitant Guenther Grethe, Chair of the selection committee, has to be informed about the application by mail ggrethe@comcast.net.
Following the initial application a 2,000-word long abstract describing the work to be presented has to be sent in electronic form to Guenther Grethe by June 15, 2008. Any questions related to applying for one of the scholarships should be directed to the same e-mail address. Winners will be chosen based on contents, presentation and relevance of the poster and they will be announced at the meeting. The contents shall reflect upon the student's work and describe research in the field of chemoinformatics and related sciences. Winning posters will be marked "Winner of the CINF-FIZ CHEMIE Berlin Academic Scientific Excellence" at the poster session.
