Swedish and international press are invited to report on and participate in the pre-conference to the 10th global conference on "Public Communication of Science and Technology" (PCST-10 Bridges to the future), which for the very first time is arranged in Scandinavia.
Participating Nobel Laureates in the pre-conference: Peter Agre (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2003) och Frank Wilczek (Nobel Prize in Physics 2004). Also Dr. Angela Lindner, Head of communications for one of the Nobel Laureates in Physics 2007, Peter Grünberg, will take part.
The pre-conference at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (RSAS) is open for invited press and participants in the main PCST-10 conference (in Öresund 25-27 June), and will give a Swedish perspective to international science communication. The announcement of the Nobel Prize and the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Memory of Alfred Nobel in early October each year is, arguably, the major news event originating from Sweden.
Consequently, the associated communication process provides an excellent case study and a good opportunity to discuss the "why's and how's" of contemporary science communication.
Venue: Beijersalen, RSAS, Lilla Frescativägen 4A, Stockholm, Sweden (ca. 5 km north of Stockholm C).
Time: Monday 23 June 2008, at 9.00 am-3.00 pm. Coffee and fruits are served from 8.30 am.
Lunch: Journalists who has registered at the LATEST Tuesday 18 June will be served free lunch. Please register to the Press Officer at the RSAS.
Programme: Please see www.kva.se.
