Johann Blanchard, Student an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock bei den Professoren Matthias Kirschnereit und Karl-Heinz Will, gewann beim Concours International im französischen Montrond-les-Bains 2008 den 2. Preis. In besonderem Maße beeindruckte seine Interpretation der Werke von Debussy, Liszt und Rachmaninoff die hochkarätig besetzte Jury.
Mit dem Armenischen Staatspreis für herausragende Leistungen wurde Lilit Grigoryan dekoriert. Sie studiert an der Rostocker Hochschule in der Klasse von Prof. Kirschnereit. Die Preisverleihung fand im Präsidentenpalast von Eriwan statt und wurde von Lilit musikalisch umrahmt. Sie war die einzige Musikerin und jüngste Preisträgerin der insgesamt 22 geehrten Persönlichkeiten des Landes.
