Scientific Highlights of the 3rd Fraunhofer Life Science Symposium

Only few weeks until the start of the 3rd Fraunhofer Life Science Symposium in Leipzig. On October 24 and 25, 2008 researchers and industrial partners will meet in Leipzig to discuss their latest findings in the fields of ischemia and regeneration.

Speakers from Germany, France, USA and Israel will present their findings. A major theme is the role of stem cell therapy in ischemic diseases. Two sessions address this cutting-edge issue. Keynote lectures come from Prof. Bodo Eckehard-Strauer who will speak about the potential of bone marrow cells as a therapy for heart failure. Prof. Jürgen Hescheler will as well focus on cardiac stem cell therapy especially in regards to clinical indication for cell therapy and long term outcomes. In addition to cardiac ischemia, cerebral ischemia is a serious and widespread disease in industrial nations. Dr. Brigitte Onteniente from Paris will give a lecture about the potential of human embryonic stem cells in stroke.

Altogether, the two days offer 24 high-level lectures in 6 sessions, over 30 scientific posters as well as 17 industrial exhibitors in the new and modern building of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology in Leipzig.

The complete programme and the registration form are available under http://www.fs-leipzig.com.
