Vom 04.-08. Januar 2001 findet an der Universität Siegen eine international besetzte Tagung zum Thema "Knoten, Verschlingungen und Mannigfaltigkeiten" statt. Die Tagung setzt die Reihe internationaler Topologie-Tagungen in Siegen fort.
Im Mittelpunkt der Vorträge und Diskussionen steht das mathematische Verständnis von Verwicklungs- und Verknäuelungsphänomen, die z.B. in der Molekularbiologie (DNS-Struktur) eine bedeutende Rolle spielen.
