Gda?sk Strengthens Baltic Sea Collaboration

    Gdansk and the Pomorskie region strengthen their ties with the Baltic Sea Region. The Baltic Center for Biotechnology and Innovative Diagnostics, BioBaltica, was established in 2008 as a joint venture between the Medical University of Gdansk, the Gdansk University of Technology, the University of Gdansk and the Pomorskie region. BioBaltica now goes one step further both becoming a member of ScanBalt plus establishing a ScanBalt Liaison Office in Gdansk. The role of the liaison office will be to coordinate the international collaborations of the life science cluster in the Pomorskie region.

    Prof. Krzysztof Bielawski, CEO of BioBaltica says: "With the establishment of BioBaltica and the ScanBalt Liaison office we intent to enhance the awareness of the Life science competencies to be found in Gdansk and the Pomorskie region - and to strengthen the international collaborations. We must build an innovative knowledge-based economy and promote the development of new high tech companies. This is best done in collaboration with our neighbours around the Baltic Sea and our region has a lot to offer".
