LFoundry and IHP sign cooperation contract - LFoundry to license IHP's world leading LDMOS process module

Heidrun Förster (IHP - Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics/Leibniz-Institut für innovative Mikroelektronik GmbH) Geschäftsstelle, Büro Berlin
Leibniz-Gemeinschaft

LFoundry today announced the signing of an R&D and transfer agreement with IHP microelectronics, a leading German institute for communication technologies. LFoundry will license the IHP LDMOS process technology for deployment on the LFoundry Low Power and RFCMOS process.

Additionally both parties have entered into an agreement to jointly further enhance the High Voltage capability of LFoundry process technologies and to establish a manufacturing partnership to offer customers dual site manufacturing capabilities.

"Within this R&D project IHP transfers its leading edge LDMOS technology know-how to LFoundry with the aim to strengthen the market position of the Germany based company. Moreover, the opportunity for existing and future IHP partners interested in volume fabrication to get access to these technologies within a commercial foundry environment will be established", as Prof. Wolfgang Mehr, Scientific Director of the IHP comments today.

Whilst IHP will continue to offer cost-efficient and rapid prototyping service as well as low volume production capability, LFoundry is positioned to offer customers access to process compatible high volume manufacturing from its state of the art 8 inch manufacturing plant in Landshut, Germany.

"We are very excited and pleased to have IHP as one of our partners, this will strengthen our technology IP position and enhance our development capabilities, whilst providing customer access to increased manufacturing capabilities and second source alternatives" comments Michael Lehnert CEO of LFoundry. He adds "IHP and LFoundry are currently exploring additional technology partnerships to expand market potential for both companies".
